Reduce Operating Expenses pt 2 Return Process: Not the right fit. Exceptions: No Pickles, Extra cheese, Balsamic on the side! Doing it right the first time: How much does it save? Receipt Fraud: Dealing with bad guys and cashier turnover rate.
Retailers attack the receipt fraud problem by adopting internal processes and by using secure media (receipt paper). Secure receipt paper is often back-printed with the user's logo or trademark, or top printed with a watermark. Although the use of preprinted security papers "raises the bar" on this issue, the bad guys can still steal rolls of the receipt paper and create fraudulent receipts. TPG's printers with ColorPOS technology use a unique (patent pending) application of two-color direct thermal printing that significantly raises the bar against receipt fraud. They implement a programmable watermark feature that automatically reads graphic, logo, or text images, then processes the images and prints them in color as watermarks on each receipt. Higher-end retailers, who often deal with receipt security issues, may use the ColorPOS technology to print watermarks that include information such as store number, lane number, date, time of day, or even special loss-prevention codes; the possibilities are endless. It gives retailers real power and substantially reduces their receipt fraud problems. Alternatively, grocery stores or other retailers without significant receipt security issues can use ColorPOS technology to print seasonal messages or images, such as flags before Independence Day and Santas during the Christmas holidays. How much is receipt fraud prevention worth? If receipt fraud equals 10 percent of total fraud and is addressed by using the two-color watermark feature, the return on your investment is dramatic.
