Reduce Operating Expenses  pt 2

Return Process: Not the right fit.
Dealing with product returns is an expensive and time-consuming problem. Inexperienced cashiers and fraudulent receipts create significant loss-control issues for retailers. TPG printers with ColorPOS technology can easily be used to highlight sale items within each receipt so that customer returns can be processed quickly and correctly.

Exceptions: No Pickles, Extra cheese, Balsamic on the side!color printer
Two-colors will make significant improvements in processing and handling your customers' exceptions. Let's use a restaurant to illustrate the process. Either for allergy or for taste - or just because your customers are demanding - your wait staff may enter several substitutions and subtractions on each order. Everyone wants something a little different these days, and your staff is under pressure to meet your customers' expectations. TPG printers with ColorPOS technology allow your wait staff to print customer exceptions in red or even to highlight the exceptions by using the Conditional Surround Graphics feature.

Doing it right the first time: How much does it save?
Pleased customers, fewer duplicate rushed orders in the kitchen, each waiter moving on to serve the next customers, less food being thrown away - the savings add up quickly.

Receipt Fraud: Dealing with bad guys and cashier turnover rate.
Receipt fraud is an issue that few people in the POS industry like to talk about. Receipt fraud results in losses when fraudulent receipts are used to return stolen merchandise or to obtain cash against payments by credit cards and checks. And what about high employee turnover? Retailers often deal with individuals who have little experience and even less commitment to prevent receipt fraud.

Retailers attack the receipt fraud problem by adopting internal processes and by using secure media (receipt paper). Secure receipt paper is often back-printed with the user's logo or trademark, or top printed with a watermark. Although the use of preprinted security papers "raises the bar" on this issue, the bad guys can still steal rolls of the receipt paper and create fraudulent receipts.

TPG's printers with ColorPOS technology use a unique (patent pending) application of two-color direct thermal printing that significantly raises the bar against receipt fraud. They implement a programmable watermark feature that automatically reads graphic, logo, or text images, then processes the images and prints them in color as watermarks on each receipt. Higher-end retailers, who often deal with receipt security issues, may use the ColorPOS technology to print watermarks that include information such as store number, lane number, date, time of day, or even special loss-prevention codes; the possibilities are endless. It gives retailers real power and substantially reduces their receipt fraud problems.

Alternatively, grocery stores or other retailers without significant receipt security issues can use ColorPOS technology to print seasonal messages or images, such as flags before Independence Day and Santas during the Christmas holidays.

How much is receipt fraud prevention worth? If receipt fraud equals 10 percent of total fraud and is addressed by using the two-color watermark feature, the return on your investment is dramatic. How much will it save your operation?
